Reviews
I’ve always had a wonderful experience here, I just found out that they do not have air conditioning and haven’t for about a month at this point!
I hope this review reaches some of the decision makers/ownership because getting that HVAC fixed as soon as possible might cost a bit more but I guarantee you are losing clients over this. Last time I was here the place was packed, today It was so slow I expected to see a tumbleweed roll through the middle of the store.
I will certainly be steering clear of this location and take my business to Fort Worth or Dallas until the AC is fixed.
To be fair they do have some portable units in there so it is bearable with all that extra air movement going around and fans etc. The problem is that as your hair is being cut the hair pieces are flying into your face and blowing all over the room… not a great experience this time around.
All the staff were wonderful, professional, welcoming, etc.
I’ve been a member of the boardroom for over 5 years. Use to be stellar service especially given how much we pay for a yearly membership. However, it has gone really downhill- especially this location. I believe they went corporate and I guess to squeeze out profits and combined with the new management at this location they (1) now charge for a no show appointment despite years of loyal membership (2) no longer send reminders of appts the day before (3) the reminder is important because to squeeze those corporate profits they overbook their stylists and now have to make an appt 2 weeks in advance (4) and lastly I asked for managements information to contact them but they won’t give that information out to me. Odd you don’t let a member get to contact a management. Really a shame after all these years, I’d say save your money and don’t do the membership at least at this location. As a side note, Kimberly as a haircut stylist is at Lear great. But management, cost, corporate profits and overbooking has really hurt being a member here. Expect better service for such high prices. Something they use to have.
We were very disappointed. My husband is bald. We went in before the appointment and discussed the certification he had. No conversation said it didn't include a straight blade. Ok fine. I was told they upgraded it for free since the stylist needed the practice. When we left his head had stubble and he had spots that were barely done. We paid for that certificate and tipped the stylist. Lesson learned. He enjoyed the hot towel and such but the shave was well below just using a plain o' razor.
Cathy N. is my stylist and she's terrific. I've been a membership client for several years now, never had a bad experience. Cathy does need to learn to swim, however.
The Boardroom Salon for Men's performance in the past 6 months has been consistently disappointing. In this time, they've lost numerous stylists, and I've had to switch between four different ones. Their retention rate is clearly low, which affects the quality of service.
Today, they canceled my appointment with just 25 minutes' notice, a recurring issue. They were unable to reschedule me promptly, and they've done this before. What's more, when I requested to cancel my membership and get a refund, they declined, and they wouldn't even let me talk to a manager.
This overall experience is far from what I expected when I signed up with them. I strongly caution potential clients against trusting The Boardroom Salon for Men, given their high stylist turnover and inadequate customer service.
I don't know what happened here! My service was surreal so bad it was. I booked a head shave and a beard trim. I didn't choose any stylist in particular so they gave me Steven N. The head shave was supposed to take 45 minutes and include some scalp and skin care. The head shave that I was given didn't had any of that. It was shaved with a machine, aggressively. Steven N took less than 20 minutes for the head shave and the beard trim. On the beard trim he was clearly not well, I don't know what was going on with him but I asked for no reduction in length. Only aligning and reducing any unruly hairs. He proceeded to cut almost 2 inches on one side and left mess, destroying months of careful grooming in a minute. In the end he told me " I prefer my tips in cash please".
I complained to the person in the front desk that the whole service was rushed and incomplete but I was ignored. I paid $80 dollars for the destruction of my up to then well groomed beard and left with an irritated scalp and neck. I had to book a beard trim in another place later in the day and got it fixed but not without losing further length to even out the beard. Surreal.
I will never return to this place and if Steve N continues to work there please be warned.
Will definitely come back! Thank you for the amazing hair cut
Quality haircut with unsurpassed comfort, but it's not cheap.
If you can afford this, The Boardroom in Southlake is the place for your men's cut or grooming/spa services.
I've tried the Alliance location and felt it wasn't worth the price. After seeing more positive reviews of this location I have them one last try. I'm glad I did. The haircut was great and despite a misunderstanding caused by the online booking process, they made every effort to accommodate my needs and I left thrilled with the results.
Pros::
- experts in cutting, styling, and grooming men
- very professional environment. Most other men's specialty cutters try to be the Hooters of haircuts.
- convenient location in the Southlake shopping plaza next to Town Hall.
- comfortable setting from the free drinks (beer included), to the all wood style with pool table in the center, relaxing atmosphere, and a great selection of high quality grooming supplies.
Cons:
- the shopping place is always busy, so expect an issue finding a parking spot.
- they are pretty busy so make sure you call ahead of you think you'll need more time than they normally a lot.
- it's pricey, $45-$60 (before tip) for the two most popular cuts. BUT you get what you pay for. Great cars cost more. Quality clothes cost more. Superior haircuts cost more.
